Yikes!

Man o man, I really have to do a better job of staying current with my blog(s).  Trouble is, I don't always have much to say, that is not much to say thats worth reading.

Per my last post, there is a special project in the works, but it has taken a bit of turn in that a good friend of mine who also happens to be an excellent writer / creative guy has agreed to team up with me on it so that we can make it more of a collaborative effort.  It also means that the final product should be that much stronger in terms of concept.  But it'll take some time to get it off the ground...

In the meantime, here are a couple renders of soem proactive work I did recently.  This summer, Pixar Animation will be bringing us it's latest work - "Brave".  Trailers are available online to watch already, and I fully expect this film will be just as good as every other Pixar creation.  And just like every other Pixar film, there will undoubtedly be a virtual tsunami of merchandise being peddled to capitalize on it, which means there will be a high demand for POP materials.  Thats where I come in.

So here are some ideas for a simple gondola aisle graphic kit - there are a ton of other directions to go with this, but here are four for starters...

Now for something different

In my efforts to overhaul and jazz up my portfolio I find myself making short lists of proactive projects to work on (such as all the PS3 Displays and the Hamilton Sweet project).  However, it also occurs to me that perhaps it would be immensly beneficial to branch out beyond POP Displays and may try to dig back into product design.  So to that end, I am jotting down some ideas for regular ID projects that I can start chewing on and eventually add to my portfolio of work.

First up is an idea I had this morning for a new line of toys.... stay tuned!

Fresh Look for a Fresh Year

With the dawn of a new year, it seems an appropriate time to rethink and revise my own marketing efforts for my freelance design business.  First up is the "teaser" flier I send out to any prospective clients - given that this is likely the first view anybody will have of my work, it is absolutely critical that it make a very STRONG first impression.

So with that in mind, the original teaser is below, followed by the new and improved version:
